Smart Resizing

What if when you resized a photo it didn't stretch or squeeze or shrink the important stuff. Computers should be smart enough to do that, right?

Top Men were amazed at this little preview of intelligent photo resizing from some top men at Mitsubishi labs. Wohba!

(Thanks Brice!)

Google Sky

Top Women CANNOT believe our lucky stars! First there's our beloved Google Earth to rip around the planet at leisure, and now, NOW after a multitude of Google add-ons there is a Sky feature to rip around the universe.

I think we'll just go outside tonight with our laptops, while listening to Major Tom (naturally), and zoom in on our chunk of the sky.

We're very happy tonight.

Moving Stars

Top Men have spent the last few nights sitting outside the lab gazing at an active night sky. Two items in particular are worth observing.

The ISS (International Space Station) with the docked Space Shuttle is making brilliant, evening passes across North America. Check here to see where and when to look. (Select the ISS after choosing your location.)

And the Perseid meteor shower peaks tonight (Sunday night/Monday morning). Start watching around 10:00 pm, but the peak is a couple hours after midnight. If you miss it tonight, try tomorrow night.

Volcano Cam Two

The volcano geeks at Mount St. Helens have upgraded their VolcanoCam to high definition. It's the next best thing to being there.

Top Men like to keep an eye on things - we don't want to miss the show if it blows!
